USF Cougar Basketball Coming to PREMIER Center
University of Sioux Falls Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, will offer area fans a chance to see Cougar men’s basketball at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, USF men’s basketball team will host area rival Southwest Minnesota State at 7 p.m., in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action at the PREMIER Center, a main hub for entertainment in the Sioux Falls area.
“This is an exciting opportunity not only for head coach Chris Johnson and his men’s basketball team but for all of the Cougars fans and supporters,” said USF Director of Athletics Josh Snyder, noting that this game is the first for the Cougars and the NSIC in the DSPC. “We are urging fans to come out and be part of a special night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.”
The Cougars, which will begin its fourth season in the NSIC, will be an exciting team to watch with the return of three starters, including standout shooting guard Mack Johnson. Under Coach Johnson, the Cougars have compiled a 124-92 record (.574). In his tenure, Johnson has guided USF to four 20-win seasons, six seasons of 15 wins or more and just twice have teams finished under .500.
“Speaking for our program, our student-athletes and coaching staff are enthusiastically looking forward to playing in the Denny Sanford Premier Center,” said Johnson. “It should be a great night for NSIC basketball fans to watch two rivals battle in Sioux Falls new arena,” he said.
