Title Sponsors Announced for New Events Center
First Premier Bank, Premier Bankcard and Sanford Health in Sioux Falls have joined as title sponsors for what will be called the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, which will host sporting events, concerts, conventions, and banquets.
The title sponsorship deal is for the next 25 years and will provide $750,000 a year for operating costs. Additionally, Sanford Health agreed to a one-time $2 million cash donation for scoreboards and a ribbon board inside the arena, and a video display board outside the facility. That brings the total sponsorship agreement to over $20 million—believed to be one of the industry’s largest deals for the size of the facility and the population size of the region.
The title sponsors chose to name the facility after the founder of First Premier Bank and Premier Bankcard in Sioux Falls, T. Denny Sanford, whose philanthropy includes a $400 million gift made in 2007 to what was then called Sioux Valley Hospital.
The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center will add 30,000 square feet of flat floor space to the existing facilities—the Sioux Falls Convention Center and Sioux Falls Arena—for a combined total of 137,000 square feet within the entire complex. The center is a multipurpose venue that boasts three different clubs, 22 suite boxes and 16 loges. The suites sold out in three days, while the loge boxes sold out in a week. Sales for premium seating and sponsorships are on-going. Legends Sales and Marketing are handling all of the premium seating and sponsorship sales.
Sioux Falls is the largest city in South Dakota, and is situated at the junction of Interstates 29 and 90, three-and-a-half hours by car from Minneapolis and two-and-a-half hours from Omaha. The population base within a 90-minute drive to Sioux Falls is around 850,000.
The city was recently named the No. 1 Best Small Place for Business and Careers by Forbes Magazine, as well as the No. 10 Minor League Sports Market by Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal. Major industries include health care and banking. SMG will continue managing the 51-year old Sioux Falls Arena and 686-seat Historic Orpheum Theater.
