Denny Sanford PREMIER Center has reached its third anniversary, and business couldn’t be better.

The PREMIER Center opened in September of 2014, hosting several public open houses and then its grand opening concert October 3, a sold out Jason Aldean concert.

Since then, nearly two million people have attended events, including 42 sell outs, counting the nine-sold out Garth Brooks shows.

In addition to Garth Brooks, highlights include the highest-attended single event, Carrie Underwood, the highest-grossing single event Paul McCartney, eight sold out Professional Bull Riders events, and other big name concerts including Eagles, Elton John, Def Leppard, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, two Eric Church concerts and more.

A number of new events have come to Sioux Falls, and the state, with the opening of the PREMIER Center, including Cirque du Soleil, Professional Bull Riders, UFC, and a nation-wide live WWE broadcast.

The PREMIER Center ranked 100th in Pollstar Magazine’s 2015 Top 200 world-wide venues listing, based on gross concert ticket sales. The venue rose to 88th in 2016, surpassing some of the region’s larger venues in Omaha, Fargo, and others.

Several award nominations have resulted from the success of the building, including Best New Major Concert Venue by Pollstar Magazine in 2014, and Academy of Country Music’s Venue of the Year for medium capacity venues each of the past two years.

The venue has reported a profit each year due to its ticket sales success. SMG employs more than 50 full time staff, and over 500 part time staff, to work events and manage the facility. The full time employees have logged more than 700 volunteer hours in the community.
